After a burst of inspiration, I've decided to pursue a topic that I think about quite often: Millennial Moms. I am always yapping about how I don't want children and even if I did, I wouldn't want to have any until I'm about 35 or something. But, there are people around me getting married, having children, starting families and STILL getting their degrees and prospering. I can barely make myself breakfast in the morning so the thought "HOW?????" is always running through my head (It should also be noted that I'm basically a child and adulting has been a long, dreadful process). I have so much respect and admiration for the young women who carry their babies, are making their own money, pursuing their dreams and basically just doing the damn thing to be quite honest. This doesn't change my natural curiosity though. What is it like? How did you react to finding out you're pregnant? Did you rejoice? Were you nervous? I can't imagine what motherhood is like BUT I do want to find out - through a series of video interviews. I want to explore the day in the life of a Millennial Mommy and truly shine a light on how strong and resilient these women are. (It should be noted that I'm not disregarding fathers, but the lady carrying a child for 9 months straight and jumping straight into motherhood peaks my interest just a little bit more). After conducting polls on both Twitter and Instagram, majority of my followers said they believe women would be willing to share their stories. I want this video to be as honest and insightful as possible in a way that does not offend anyone. I get around 400 views on this blog at this point, so I'm asking that everyone reading this share their opinion with me. Do you think women would be willing to share their stories? If the majority of people indicate that this is something they'd like to see and/or be apart of, I'll get started immediately. If not, I'll just bring this back up in about a year or so when I think people will be more receptive ;). Should this video come to fruition, most of my interviews will be conducted while I'm on St. Croix over Winter Break with anyone who's willing to talk or just wants to show off their cute bundle(s) of joy. When I get back to Connecticut in January, my life will be in full swing once again, but, if you or someone you know is interested in telling their story, we can make travel arrangements, conduct Skype interviews, or you can send me a video of yourself answering a few questions (Technology is so cool). This is my overall vision for this project. So! Tell me, what do you think?
