Now, I am no expert, but here's what I learned after being in a relationship for a few months: GOING ON DATES IS SO IMPORTANT It's probably the most important thing in a relationship next to alerting one another before farting. But I digress. Going on dates allows you to see your partner in a completely different element. In college we tend to hang out with people in the same places whether it be the dorms, dining hall or whatever student center you may have where everyone chills out. Well, this routine can become comfortable and people don't really show alternate sides to their persona in the same setting. By going on dates you're able to see your partner in situations you've never seen them in and that in itself can bring you both closer together. Keep in mind that going on a date does not have to mean a lot of money will be spent. Have you ever seen your partner swim? Go swimming. If you're a reader from back home in the V.I., then you know which beach to head to or when to head to big dock. For my stateside readers, there are tons of recreational centers where you can swim in a community pool for a small fee such as Orange Rec Center. What about trying new food? Downtown New Haven has plenty of restaurants with various types of cuisine including: Do you both like to read? Head out to your nearest Barnes & Noble! Put yourself in a new situation and don't be afraid of embarrassment! Apart of growing in love is figuring out your friend's strengths and weaknesses and seeing where they prosper and where you can build them up – and vice versa!
I hope everyone had a great Valentine's Day. Peace + Love
